Jarryd Battle, in his analysis of the values of Der Eigene journal, inspired the political journalist Kurt Hillier and the novelist Thomas Mann to extend the view that “From Greek antiquity to European Aristocracy, they argued, sexual acts between men could be seen as a natural extension of passionate male friendship.”

The Gays of the higher cultural order it is where privilege and money buy you freedom, the freedom to access exclusive islands and clubs, and places where you can exercise your predilections.

They — who were born of Greek and Roman gods.
It — was a love reserved for the elite.
A love that celebrated and revered the male aesthete.
It was a love born out of camaraderie, strength and fortitude.

A union of kins.
It was a love that knew no ends
It was, after all, heaven-sent.
It is the cherry blossom raining down in the spring.

In the past, their presence was felt.
Where they lived, one could not tell.

They existed somewhere beyond the clouds, in monumental temples, idyllic country or townhouses, or glass-walled…
