The allies need to first come from the LGBTQ+ communities. I see too many dating profiles of gays stating that they are non-political. Your existence is a political act. Too many on the gay scene appear to have become complacent. We have Prep, so everything is now okay. Some LGBTQ individuals and groups have aligned themselves with The Extreme Right. They, I assume, believe that these groups will compartmentalise their hatred. The Right will use you as long as it benefits their cause. The idea that one can compartmentalise hatred is an anathema. Racism, Sexism, and Gender discrimination come from the same source - hate. Equality should not equate to the right to hate. The LGBTQ+ needs to address ‘isms’ and phobias within the communities. So many times in history, the oppressed have aligned themselves with their oppressors because they believe that will ingratiate themselves to them and hence offer them protection. Hatred cannot be ring-fenced. Hatred is parasitic; it feeds on itself. There have always been elements of white supremacy embedded in gay culture, the ideals of Aryan beauty. Some have appropriated this ideology without thinking of the principles on which it is based. LGBTQ+ were persecuted and killed by the Nazis. Yet, some are now aligning themselves with ideologies that stem from this movement.
