Thank you, you have eloquently expressed what I have been trying to communicate for a while. As a black man, I fear responding to many of these polemics. But, I feel damn if I do damn if I don't. You are tarred with the same brush even when you don't identify or conform to the stereotypes. I do not condone bad disrespectful behaviour, but I feel there needs to be more nuanced in these discussions. All Black men are not evil brutes. You may have a black son. Will you, from day one, see him as a brute? Even if your son is mixed race, he will be identified as black and have all the stereotypes heaped on him.
