Thank you for this insightful article. I agree with your premise. However, can one argue that once the belief that you are poor because of blacks becomes established, white privilege becomes a reality for many? Whilst reading your words, I could not help thinking about the United Kingdom, where the government commissioned a report on institutional racism. The report concluded that institutional racism does not exist. Instead, it argued that the real problem was discrimination against poor whites. The report concluded that the focus on institutional racism was detrimental to the advancement of the poor white majority. The approach by the British government illustrates how they use the current narrative of 'white privilege' to enable 'white privilege'. Your article has clarified the policy currently being pursued by the British Government. The policy is not solely focused on skin colour; Brexit illustrates this. The government's strategy is to demonise the 'other' and blame everyone except 'us' for your poverty.
