Thank you for a very enlightening and thought-provoking article. I experience Imposter Syndrome. There are multiple causes, including my sexual and racial identity. As a black gay man, I feel detached from many aspects of the dominant gay and black culture. Another factor is racism; I have achieved a lot in my life. I see education as the way to better myself and my esteem, so success in this area is critical. Lack of recognition of my achievements and abilities and appropriation of my ideas have led me to question my accomplishments and skills. I have developed self-sabotaging behaviours where I deliberately gift others my ideas. I do this hoping that I will acknowledge my contribution. However, this never happens.
