Thank you. Black people are not immune from Racism we appropriate these negative images. Colourism is rife within many black cultures. I remember, as a child, reading a book about the gollywogs. I took the book to school, and my teacher in the Caribbean took it from me. She explained to my mum that I should not be reading this book. I had no idea about the connotations associated with the images. It was only when I returned to the UK, and people started calling me coon, that I became aware of their true significance.
