It's essential to focus on maintaining and revitalising our queer spaces. This brings to mind my experiences in London, particularly at Gays The Word, a beloved book and coffee shop. Recently, we observed LGBTQ+ History Month in the UK, and it was disappointing to see some networks, like Sky, not participate in the celebrations this year. It seems there’s a trend where American political influences seep into cultural practices in other countries, highlighting the significant role of US corporations in the IT and cultural sectors.

However, many of my friends in the UK and Europe are exploring ways to embrace more independent and localised approaches in response. There's a growing awareness and desire to create alternative frameworks that celebrate and uphold LGBTQ+ culture without relying heavily on US influence. The political landscape, particularly with recent developments in the US, has sparked a conversation in the EU about strengthening its autonomy and pursuing strategies that foster independence. This awareness presents an opportunity for positive change and greater solidarity. The death of Global American Cultural Hegmony provides the opportunity for positive change. Before Trump's presidency, the music industry was already transforming, moving away from the traditional dominance of British and American influences. This shift is an exciting opportunity for diverse global voices to emerge and be heard in music and other cultural sectors. We are hopefully witness the death of American and British hard and soft power.
