It is a burden we carry, weight after weight is ladened unto our backs. Positive intent has negative consequences. It dehumanizes, those that are marginalized or emotionally vulnerable. All the time the spotlight is focused on you, was it something I did, are my emotions valid, should I be thinking this, should I be responding in this way, is the whip lashing my back real? And, all the while, it is chipping away at your sense of self-worth. What is the positive intent of racists, but to affirm their perception of superiority? Anger is an emotion; it is healing; it is a response to something felt. It may not have a rational foundation, but it sometimes needs to acknowledged and expressed.
