I witnessed a group of black men slapping a woman at the gym because she asked to use one of the training equipment they were hogging. I stood there, shocked at what I was witnessing. I was expecting the gym staff, mainly men, to call the police or intervene. Yes, I should have done it myself. Eventually, another patron chastised the gym staff and demanded they call the police. I guess I froze in disbelief and fear of being attacked myself. I am ashamed of my inaction. I have been the victim of violence by black men because of my sexuality. I agree with your statement.
