I wholeheartedly agree with your criticism. Focusing solely on celebrating black achievements is doubly triggering. It makes those crushed by the wheels of white oppression feel like double failures. It places the blame and responsibility for the trauma they are experiencing on them. Look, these people succeeded despite racism; therefore, the problem isn’t racism but you. Centering Black History on celebrating black achievements white washes racism.
