I have not seen this, and thanks to your review, it will most likely be a miss. I agree with your general sentiment. There appears to be extreme laziness on the part of stream services pushing well-known actors, directors and storylines. One thing that makes Netflix attractive is its worldwide focus and promotion of unknown talents. The majority of streaming platforms appear to be cash cows for the famous. The advent of streaming services should be an opportunity to promote new works and talent. How many more iterations of Star Wars, Star trek, Downtown Abbey can we stand. How many more mediocre series and films produced by well-known actors can we stand?: Yawn. The film and television industry appears to be echo chambers where the participants perform acts of mutual masturbation.
I guess they will defend themselves by saying that this is what the public wants. But, as I recollect, a famous innovator stated that 'people don't know what they want until you show it to them'. Unfortunately, some have interpreted this as subjecting everything to consumer clinics before its inception.
