I had an annual checkup recently, and the doctor informed me that the BMI was adjusted for my 'racial profile'. Again, I find these statements problematic. Considering my ancestry is mixed. I have ancestors originating from 10 African countries and five European countries. This is another example of Black African people being considered one homogeneous group. It appears that the BMI does not consider a place's history. For instance, in the Caribbean, plantation owners deliberately mixed different African groups to minimise the risk of rebellion.
