I appreciate the sentiments that you have here expressed. My take on this is knowledge and awareness. If we walk without understanding reality, will are more likely to experience dystopia. The starting point is the understanding of the self, an appreciation of the wonders of our existence. The universe cares not for dystopia or utopia. These are constructs of man. Some cry because it is their lived experiences; some seek to escape. Others seek to convey the consequences of our actions. To be vocal about the impact of climate change is to offer hope. The hope is that we will take action to avert disaster. Climate change is utopian in vision because it will require collective action. One can argue dystopia and utopia are not mutually exclusive. As you have stated, in the face of the inevitable, some appreciate the gift of life. Funny enough, this weekend, I was talking with a friend about "The Power of Now". What is the significance of 'now' for those living under oppression? Some are privileged to be able to live in the now. Those living under pressure can dream of a better world. Creating a better world sometimes means breaking down the old world, this act in itself is utopian. Some may view Marxs as a pessimist. However, he formulated a theory from trying to understand reality. Whether an individual see that as good or evil is up to them? Whether an individual see that as good (utopian) or evil (dystopian) is up to them? I am trying to elucidate that some will attach moral values to these words depending on their circumstances (utopian equates to good), dystopian (bad), what is good for some is bad for another.
