They are shown side by side, but the chasm between them is a universe apart.
They will not converse — their emotional responses are devoid of nuances. They are predominantly looking for the same thing: to climb the escalator to heaven.
The site is promoted as one for People of Colour, but the colours will never mix. They are destined to remain distinct entities, traversing different realities; the only thing that unites them is the belief in the superiority of their overlords; paradoxically, it is the very thing that keeps them apart.
There is so much beauty here, but I doubt the participants see this in themselves or each other. Their desire for ‘that’ other and not each other has made them perceive themselves and their kind as undesirables. Thus, they can only become through ‘that’ other’s gaze.
Differences and shared experiences of exclusion do not foster comradery. They magnify it — never the twain shall meet. They may walk down the same streets, but that does not mean they wish to converse with each other. These sites are there to serve the desire of the Occidental, for fetishising the Oriental and practising Negrophilia. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; beauty knows no colour.
Beauty transcends colour and specific facial features. All ethnicities uphold beauty. No one ethnic group is more beautiful than the other.
